Parenting Tips

Parenting impacts this generation and the next, and beyond.

What is the best parenting advice you’ve ever been given?

Whether you are a new parent or a seasoned parent, I bet you have received a lot of advice. And then you had to take that advice and distill it down into something usable for your family and life circumstances. Much of the unsolicited advice you probably threw out. What did you decide to keep?

As a Christian family, I hope you are looking to God to be your source of parenting advice. His Word is sufficient for everything in life. So, if you are looking to raise faith-filled, courageous children to be “Daniels and Esthers” in today’s world, how are you going to raise your children differently than the world?

These are the kinds of questions I’ve wrestled with as a mom.

And you’ll have to wrestle with them, too, as a Christ-follower.

So, I want you to know that when I drop parenting tips here, they have already been filtered through these lenses:

  • God’s Word, His character, our identity in Christ, and our God-given purpose on this earth.
  • Is my parenting mindset and tips biblical: co-laboring with Christ, laying a firm foundation, planting spiritual seeds, and obediently stewarding the children He has given me.
  • Philippians 4:8 “whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, praiseworthy.”
  • Does this help me fulfill my calling to raise the next generation of “Daniels and Esthers” who are faith-filled, courageous, and bold for Jesus?

When you consider how you are raising your children, what is your goal? If you’ve never considered that before, start here.

Remember this verse: “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God gave the growth.” (1 Corinthians 3:6) While God has called us as parents to be faithful stewards to aim our children towards Him, ultimately it is He who choses, calls, and confirms someone’s faith. So, the pressure is off to produce the results. Simply chose to be faithful with the time, resources, and intentions of your family in this season.
